Monitoring Power Query Memory Usage With Query Diagnostics In Power BI

In the April release of Power BI Desktop the Power Query Query Diagnostics feature was enhanced so that you can now return performance counter data. As the blog post says:

When you run performance counters, every half second Power Query will take a snapshot of resource utilization. This isn’t useful for very fast queries but can be helpful for queries that use up a lot more resources.

Jobs and Planning with Usage Link Codes

After receiving a few support issues on the topic, I would like to confirm both Setup and Process Flow in regards to Planning and Jobs.

1. The Job Planning Lines of ‘Line Type’ = “Schedule” (or “Both Schedule & Contract”) (NAV2016 or prior), or “Budget” (or “Both Budget & Billable”) (named starting in NAV 2017) is your demand.

“Timer” usage in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013

Last time we have seen our “old” NTimer.dll was Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009. It was placed in ..\Common\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\Timer\.. folder. Usually we have used it for NAS or other looping tasks.

We want to have the same in Microsoft Dynamics 2013 and later, however we see that the same doesn’t work anymore. So how it is now?

Memory usage in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 print preview

Periodically we receive requests where customers asking us about RTC print preview consumes all available memory and computers hangs.

Repro scenarios are more/less similar: run report, click preview, go per pages up/down, close report. Run another report, click preview, go per pages up down and… RTC hangs. If we look to memory usage, NAV is using all available memory.
