We installed NAV2015 CU3 on our database – and facing issue with the web client.
Web client opens ok and runs some pages but then stops with error “A server error has occurred, and the content cannot be displayed. Refresh the page or open a new browser window”
Do you remember when, a year and a half ago, at NAV Tech Days, you gave us feedback on the NAV Design Patterns session – saying that Journal Error Processing is not generic and decoupled enough?
Well, my colleagues Andreas Moth and Jesper Schulz from the NAV localization team at Microsoft Development Center Copenhagen, had created a framework to extract and generalize error message processing. This framework can be used across NAV. It comes with an API and new objects that you can reuse and plug into your own implementation. And part one of how to use it is described below.
One of the most challenging thing when programming is to have proper error handling. This is one of the weakness of the standard NAV code. We are now seeing this change when Microsoft introduced the simplified NAV.
The MPS/MRP suggestions in the Planning Worksheet has an ‘Accept Action Message’ field that determines if the suggestion should be accepted or not. The value of this field is by default set to TRUE if there are no warnings. This sounds great, by my experience is that most planners would like this to default to FALSE and activity accept each message when reviewing the suggestions.
I recently encountered an issue while posting an item journal line for a serialized item. This was a situation where the Quantity > 1, one serial number per quantity entered in Item Tracking, and the Job No. and Job Task No. fields were both populated on the item journal line.
