Last week I conducted a NAV Development update to the development team of a Dutch NAV partner. One of the topics we touched was the One-Page Matrix introduced in NAV 2009 SP1. The What’s New in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Service Pack 1 – Installation and Development manual contains a lab that let’s you build a One-Page matrix, but the end result is not complete and the overview (what am I doing exactly?) is a bit missing. Therefor I decided to try my best and make up some kind of step-by-step recipe for this (see below).
In Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 RTC Report Design, matrixes can provide a lot of easy functionality for a newbie report writer who wants to collate a lot of data without doing a lot of work.
The matrix box control is not supported by the RoleTailored client. Therefore, to create the same matrix layout and functionality on a transformed page, you must design a new form to replace the original matrix form.
The final Service Pack 1 for Dynamics NAV 2009 is now just around the corner, so with that I would like to share with you one of the new possibilities in the reporting area, Matrix reports.
First I will go through how to build a Matrix Report in NAV 2009 SP1, then I will demo some Matrix reports done by two of our MVPs of Dynamics NAV and one of our partners. In the end of this blog I will share all the Matrix reports.
