I am glad to announce the availability of the Lync AddIn, and even in source code! This is actually a good sample for an AddIn that has integrates nicely with other fields on a page, yet provides a very custom functionality and rendering.

Presence Control Add-In in Microsoft Dynamics NAV with Lync
Some may have seen this Add-In somewhere already as it has been around for some time. This is a high level explanation to how it was actually done.
First thing to mention here is that the base for this Add-In is a publicly available sample of Presence Controls intended for Office Communicator 2007.
