Integrating Dynamics NAV 2016 with CRM Online

Hi, In this post I would like to explain the initial setup required and steps for integrating Dynamics NAV 2016 and CRM Online. This enables you to integrate and synchronize data in Microsoft Dynamics CRM entities such as accounts, contacts, and products, with equivalent record types in Microsoft Dynamics NAV such as customers, contacts, and items, respectively.

Dynamics NAV 2015: Confusingly Brilliant Dating using NAV CRM

Having worked in the Microsft Dynamics NAV (Navision) community for more than 12 years, I have seen many changes in the software, but none more confusing, yet strikingly brilliant in its marketing prowess, than the name change to “Dynamics.” Now when I say confusing, I mean confusing in the sense that it is ridiculously confusing to try to explain to someone that the software that provides the basis for my extremely decadent lifestyle (well, it really isn’t that extreme, but definitely decadent to what I can afford!) has four other completely distinct sister software solutions that bear the same exact name!?!?

The “Record ID” in the Integration Record table in Microsoft NAV 2013 shows as “

If you install the CRM Connector for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 you will find that you cannot read the “Record ID” value directly in the Integration Record table as you used to in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2. If you try to look at the contents of this table you will see the following:

Using the CRM Connector integration for other integration

In my work with the employee punching I needed to be able to answer a request on changed employees. In NAV 2009 R2 we got the CRM Connector and that included database triggers that are executed when the data is modified. Previously we only had global triggers that where executed when the table triggers where executed. That meant that a C/AL INSERT, MODIFY, DELETE or RENAME did not fire a global trigger but they do fire the database triggers.
