I had a disturbing conversation the other day. Actually, it wasn’t so much a conversation as it was me talking across the table to someone who gave canned, non-thoughtful responses to what I was saying. It was as if I was talking to an automaton that was pre-programmed to give the closest reply to what they thought they had heard.
